The Room Tells the Story

Imagine a world in which your heart is a stuffed and embroidered piece of fabric that can be given away, stolen, lost, or torn to pieces. Four original stories about such a world, inspired by traditional folk songs, are told through decorative arts including wallpaper, printed textiles, rugs, quilts, embroidery, dioramas and soft sculpture.
The gallery was transformed to look like four rooms, in which each item tells part of a story. Visitors were invited to sit in the rooms and read the stories, which were bound as handmade books. This show was funded by the Ontario Arts Council.
